Americo S. Ventura was born in Danbury, CT. His father and mother were both Portuguese immigrants that came from the Northeastern part of Portugal.
Attorney Ventura served with the Counter Intelligence Corps, US Army from 1946-1949. Attorney Ventura is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, Washington D.C., with a B.S. in Diplomatic and Counsulor Practice and he received his law degree from Boston University School of Law, Boston, MA, in 1957. Attorney Ventura has practiced law in the City of Danbury since receiving his law degree.
Attorney Ventura was an Assistant Prosecutor and later the Chief Prosecutor in the City Court of Danbury. He was Assistant Prosecutor and later the Chief Prosecutor of the Circuit Court of the State of Connecticut in the City of Danbury from 1961-1971.
Attorney Ventura is the founding member of the Law firm of Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith, located in Danbury, consisting of 10 attorneys and he is a retired member of the Board of Corporators of the Union Savings Bank of Danbury.
Attorney Ventura was a member of both the Son’s of Portugal and Portuguese American Clubs and is a member of the successor of both clubs, the Portuguese Cultural Center, in Danbury and is responsible for the library at the Center. He is a founding member of the Son’s of Portugal Scholarship Fund and is also one of the five original founders of the Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church (1981).
Attorney Ventura is an avid collector of Portuguese stamps, art, porcelain and “Things Portuguese”. He travels frequently to Portugal and has a great interest in Portuguese history and culture and is also a Luso-American.
Attorney Ventura is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish. |
