  Valerie B. Calistro
Valerie B. Calistro has been practicing with Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith since 1999, where she currently specializes in Personal Injury Law.


She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1989 and the Connecticut State Bar in 1990. She attended Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT (B.A.), Alliance Francais, Paris, France (Advanced Certification French) and received her Law Degree from New York Law School, in New York, NY.


Attorney Calistro is admitted to practice in the Superior Courts of the State of Connecticut; the U.S. District Court District of Connecticut; the Supreme Court of the State of New York; the U.S. District Court, Eastern and Southern Districts of New York; the Supreme Court of New York, Appellate Division; and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit.


Prior to her current position with Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith, Attorney Calistro worked at Colton, Hartnick, Yamin & Sheresky, New York, NY (Matrimonial Law, Entertainment Law), the Family Court of the State of New York, New York, NY, the Supreme Court of the State of New York (Clerk Intern for Justice Kristen Booth Glen, now serving on the Appellate Division, State of NY), Moldover, Hertz, Cooper & Gidaly, New York, NY (Civil Litigation) and Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith, New York Office - One World Trade Center, NY, NY (International Trade, Corporate Immigration, Personal Injury).


Attorney Calistro’s litigation and trial experience extends to the Federal and Appellate Courts in both Connecticut and New York.


Attorney Calistro also represented, pro bono, a victim of the World Trade Center, who survived the September 11, 2001 attacks. The victim was working in Tower One when it collapsed. He fled the building and was knocked to the ground unconscious. Attorney Calistro brought a claim on behalf of the victim, seeking compensation from the Client Compensation Fund, and appealed the decision before the Appeal Board, resulting in a doubling of his ultimate recovery from the Client Compensation Fund. The victim, a father of two children, is now well-provided for and is able to a maintain a stable life.


Attorney Calistro is a member of the Connecticut Trial Lawyer’s Association and New York Women’s Bar Association.


She is fluent in French and has a working knowledge of Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.
